Summer Reading 2020
The English Department at Scecina Memorial High School does not have any specific summer reading requirements for 2020; however, Scecina strongly encourages all students to read over the summer. Research shows that students who do not read in the summer experience the “summer slide,” which is a reduction in reading ability for the new school year.
Below is a list of suggested books students may enjoy. The bottom line is that it does not matter what students read, as long as they are reading. Students are encouraged to read what interests them. Magazines and nonfiction, whether in print or online, are good choices as well. Consider reading books as a family or sharing reading lists with friends.

In addition, the Indianapolis Public Library has a teen summer reading program, Imagine Your Story. Students can share what they are reading and qualify for prizes, including books, bicycles, and tickets to Indianapolis sporting events and attractions. Happy reading, and have a safe and relaxing summer!
