Scholarships for Incoming Freshmen 

Every year Scecina Memorial High School awards nearly $1.2 million in scholarship and financial aid to new Crusaders. Scholarships and financial assistance are made possible by generous alumni and friends.

Scecina awards academic scholarships to the top academic students from each Catholic grade school in the East Deanery. Performance-based scholarships are also available to students from the Oaks Academy, KIPP Indy, and Paramount School of Excellence.  

Stan Epperson Scholarship

William Daley Memorial Scholarship: $1,000

Sister Carmen de Barros Scholarship – $1,000

  • Offered by the Sister of St. Francis, Oldenburg, IN
  • Student must be Hispanic and planning to attend a Catholic high school
  • Scholarship can be renewed each year
  • Application and forms are due Wednesday, March 23, 2023 to the Sisters of St. Francis

Early Bird Scholarship: $3,000

Students who apply and enroll at Scecina by March 17, 2023, are eligible for a $3,000 Early Bird Scholarship. All five items below must be completed. One name will be selected on March 20, 2023.

  • Apply for admission and complete your application.
  • Be accepted as a member of Scecina’s Class of 2027.
  • Complete your registration form and pay the registration fee.
  • Complete the tuition assistance application or financial aid waiver.
  • Course Request by attending Curriculum Night on March 1 or 8 or making an individual appointment.

Father Thomas Scecina Scholarship: $5,000 each year  

  • Highest grade point average in his or her 8th-grade class 
  • GPA of 3.8 or higher 
  • Total of $20,000 over four years 
  • No application is necessary.

Presidential Scholarship: $3,000 each year 

  • Highest GPA of 3.7 or above 
  • $12,000 over four years 
  • No application is necessary.

The Presidential Scholarship at Little Flower Catholic School is funded by the Karl F. Erb Memorial Scholarship through the David S. and Mary Robinson Allen Endowment Fund and at Holy Spirit Catholic School by the Ray Riley Educational Endowment Fund. 

Scecina Pride Scholarship: $2,000 each year

  • Highest GPA of 3.5 or above 
  • $8,000 over four years 
  • No application is necessary.

The Scecina Pride Scholarship at Holy Spirit Catholic School is funded by the John Edson Educational Endowment Fund. 

Crusader Scholarship: $1,000 each year   

  • Highest GPA of 3.25 or above 
  • $4,000 over four years 
  • No application is necessary.

Partner School Scholarship: $500 each year 

  • Highest GPA of 3.0 or above 
  • $2,000 over four years 
  • No application is necessary.

Discover Opportunities Scholarship: $2,500 each year

  • Awarded to two parishioners from each East Deanery parish without a school: SS. Peter and Paul Cathedral, St. Mary, St. Rita, and St. Thomas the Apostle. 
  • Nominations by parish priests 
  • Renewable each year for a total of $10,000 

Placement Test Scholarships: $500 to $2,000 

  • Scholarships for first, second, and third highest scores on the High School Placement Test. 
  • $2,000 (first), $1,000 (second), and $500 (third) 
  • Freshman year only 
  • Scores must be submitted before the Early Bird Application Deadline in January 
  • Scores must be in 90th percentile or higher 

Sister Lavonne Long Franciscan Values Scholarships: $500 each year 

  • Given to a boy and a girl from each East Deanery partner school 
  • School principal nominates students who exemplify the Franciscan values of dignity of the individual, peace, and justice, reconciliation, and responsible stewardship.   
  • Valued at $2,000 over four years 
  • No application is necessary.

Catherine and Robert Dangler Scholarship: $2,000 each year

  • This scholarship is awarded every four years to a student from Little Flower. It will be offered again in 2023 to a member of the Class of 2027.

Joe McNelis Endowment Fund: $1,000 

  • Awarded to Holy Spirit Catholic School students.

John Meyer and Jeff Young Class of 1968 Memorial Scholarship: $1,000  

  • Awarded to student from Holy Spirit School or Little Flower School 
  • Student must have a family member who has served in the U.S. Armed Forces. 
  • Application essays due:  February 3, 2023

Immaculata Scholarship 

  • Up to full tuition for all four years for a student from Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School to attend Scecina. 
  • Applications due: February 3, 2023

Patricia “Trish” McMahon (’73) Sergi Endowment Fund: $500 

  • Provided toward tuition for student with intellectual or physical disabilities who attends Scecina.

Need-Based Financial Aid 

Scecina awards need-based financial aid based on verified family need. Financial aid applications are due in March for the first round of awards. Scecina encourages all families to complete the need-based financial aid application.
