Athletes keep Officer David Moore Food Pantry running

The Scecina cross country team recently stepped up to help the Officer David Moore Food Pantry at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Fountain Square. After loading food at Aldi, the team transported it to the church, where they packed snacks for local children to take home after school and on weekends. Many of the church’s regular volunteers are elderly, so younger volunteers are vital for navigating the stairs and keeping the pantry operational.

The pantry, which moved to St. Patrick after the Indianapolis Community Court closed, has provided food for the community, including Decatur Township students, Central Catholic students, and veterans at HVAF. With the help of Scecina students and other local schools, the pantry continues to serve those in need.

David Certo, the father of Scecina students Lucy ’27 and Peter ’25 and a Marion County Superior Court judge, reached out to Coach Melba Jackson to get the team involved. Judge Certo, who handles criminal matters and community-focused justice cases, is committed to serving the Indianapolis community inside and outside the courtroom. His efforts have helped bring much-needed support to the pantry. The team plans to continue supporting this vital community effort to help keep it open and serve those in need.
