President Therber: We will pray, protect, partner, personalize

Spread the love

Soon we will welcome students back to Scecina for the 2020 -21 school year. As we do, safety and quality of education are our top priorities. To those ends, we have developed a promise to our Scecina Community that every day we will pray, protect, partner, and personalize for our students’ and everyone’s benefit and for the continued well-being of Scecina.

This promise is here for you to see. It is our commitment during challenging times. A large group of Scecina staff, parents, students, and other friends of the school took part in drafting and approving this promise.

First, it calls us to seek God’s wisdom, patience, and hope every day. Second, we commit to doing all that we can to protect our students and one another through proactive and well-implemented safety measures. Third, the promise calls us to partner with our many stakeholder groups, including our families and staff, to sustain and expand Scecina’s quality education and impact. Fourth, we commit to valuing and supporting through our actions the uniqueness with which God has blessed every student in our care.

By living these “4 P’s” every day as well as we can, the new school year will be a truly successful year on the foundation of our Catholic values.

Recent events at the school have opened the door for a return to some sense of normalcy.

We celebrated the Commencement of the Class of 2020 on Thursday, July 16! Even with all attendees wearing masks and physically distancing, the event was still the joyful culmination of a vital milestone in these teenagers’ lives and the beginning of a new chapter for them.

Also, several fall and winter Scecina sports resumed activities last week with the approval of the Archdiocese of Indianapolis and under the terms of our athletic reopening plan. Click here to find the plan on our website.  Our coaching staff and athletic administration spent many hours developing these safety measures for the well-being of all participants in Scecina’s values-based athletic program.

Thank you for your participation in our past, present, and future. Please feel welcome to share your suggestions for the good of our young people and the future of Scecina.

Go Crusaders!

Sincerely,

Joe Therber
President
