First Responders Tuition Assistance Endowment Fund

Greetings, Scecina Community!

Lent begins this week, and I wish everyone a blessed season of deepening our relationships with the Lord.

With our students at the heart of all we do, I want to share an inspirational story of a generous, caring Scecina alumnus and his wife.

Recently, in support of Scecina students and the service and sacrifice of first responders in our communities, this couple made a most generous and wonderful donation of $500,000 so that Scecina could establish the First Responders Tuition Assistance Endowment Fund.

The couple, who wish to remain anonymous, are deeply grateful for first responders– policemen/women, firefighters, nurses, EMTs, and active, inactive, or retired members of the U. S. military services. Therefore, their significant investment is designated for tuition assistance to help Scecina students who are children or grandchildren of first responders.

When I asked the couple what motivated their generosity, they said, “The work of first responders is so important. We have been blessed, and we want to help.”

At the donors’ request, grants from this fund will be based first and foremost on family financial need. The secondary criteria will be academic and behavioral good standing.

On behalf of our students and families, I sincerely thank the generous donors of this wonderful gift. They will enable students to attend Scecina who would otherwise be unable, and their support affirms first responder parents and grandparents of students who will benefit from this gift. What a wonderful investment in young people, families, and our Church and community!

If you know of a future student(s) who is a child or grandchild of a first responder and may need support from this fund to attend Scecina, please encourage him or her to apply to Scecina.

Best wishes for a prayerful Lent, and may God bless you and yours every day.

Go Crusaders!
