Father Jim Farrell recently retired from active priestly duties.

Recently retired Father Jim Farrell will be Scecina’s chaplain coordinator for the 2022-23 school year, Scecina President Joe Therber announced.

“It is very generous of Father Jim to accept this ministry,” Therber said. “He will also be chaplain for the Sisters of St. Benedict in Beech Grove this year. We are both very fortunate communities.”

Father Farrell retired from active priestly duties in 2021. He now lives at his family home in the Little Flower neighborhood near Scecina.

Father Farrell most recently was pastor of St. Pius X Parish Indianapolis.  He also has been a pastor at Sacred Heart Parish in Jeffersonville and  St. Andrew Parish, Our Lady of Lourdes Parish, St. Bernadette in Indianapolis. Father Farrell also was the director of Our Lady of Fatima Retreat House in Indianapolis.

His sister and two of his brothers graduated from Scecina: Maureen (Farrell) Sutton, Class of 1958; Steve, Class of 1961; and Kevin, Class of 1965.

Father Farrell will be the facilitator of Scecina’s all-staff retreat on Aug. 2 at the Beech Grove Benedictine Center.
