Crusader Summer Camps


The Scecina Summer Camps program for future Crusaders is an excellent tradition at Scecina. Our teachers, coaches, and moderators are always excited to host the month-long summer camp activities at Scecina.

  • Join us on our new athletic fields this summer!
  • Spend your day at Scecina! Register for an A.M. and P.M. camp and bring lunch.
  • All campers are encouraged to bring water.

Summer Camp Schedule


June 3 – 7, 2024


Wrestling

  • Coach Patrick Mangan
  • 2 p.m. –  4 p.m.
  • Grades 1st -8th

Are you interested in trying wrestling? Already a wrestler and want to sharpen your skills? Come wrestle where the Scecina Crusaders wrestle! We will review the basics of wrestling and some more advanced techniques for the already experienced wrestlers.

Campers need to bring clothes to wrestle in. Wrestling shoes and headgear are recommended.

 


Theatre

Scecina Theatre Director Leslie Young

  • 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. for grades K-3rd
  • 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. for grades 4th-8th

 

Theatre camp offers a unique blend of dress-up, stage design, costume-making, acting, and more to provide a fun and well-rounded theatre experience. Get ready to unleash your imagination!

 


Art

  • Scecina Art Teacher Kim Quigley
  • 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. for grades 4th-8th
  • 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. for grades K-3rd – SOLD OUT!

 

Are you interested in creating? Come to the art camp. We will explore different mediums and techniques. Creativity is a must! Campers should wear play clothes. Get ready to get your hands dirty!


Archery

  • Coach Rick Simmons
  • 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Grades 4th-8th

Youth archers are provided with the skills to accurately and safely participate in archery.

Safe Sitter

  • Sponsored by the Ransburg YMCA
  • 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., June 7 and June 21
  • Ages 11-14
It is recommended that the camper bring a nonperishable lunch, along with snacks and drinks. The camper will take home a certification card, tote bag, bandages, and instructor manual.

June 10 – 13, 2024


Crusader Coed Soccer 

  • Scecina Boys Soccer Coach Quinn Cloghessy
  • 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
  • Grades 1st-8th

Coed summer soccer is an exciting and fun way to learn the fundamentals of soccer in a safe and supportive environment. The camp is designed for boys and girls just starting with soccer or looking to improve their skills. Participants will engage in various drills and games to develop their footwork, passing, shooting, and teamwork.

Shin guards and cleats are recommended.

 


Boys Basketball 

  • Scecina Boys Head Coach Jim Stanbrough
  • 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.
  • Grades 4th-8th

Improve your basketball skills and knowledge to play on your school team and to prepare to play at the high school level. Scecina Head Coach Stanbrough has 30 years of basketball coaching experience from grade school to college.

Campers should wear gym shorts, a T-shirt, and basketball shoes.

 


June 17 – 20, 2024 (Sports Camps) and June 21 (Safe Sitter)


Track and Field 

  • Head Track and Field Coach Melba Jackson
  • 9 a.m. – 11 a.m.
  • Grades 3rd – 8th

We will Introduce them to the various events in track and field. We will play games and practice drills. Coach Jackson has over 25 years of experience in track. She has coached AAU, Middle School, High School, and College. She will bring in experts in the field to assist her, many of whom have been nationally ranked and have been in the Olympic trials. Come out for a great time.

Campers should bring gym shorts, a T-shirt, a water bottle, running shoes, and a great attitude.

 


Girls Basketball

  • Head Girls Basketball Coach Jacob Dewilde
  • 12 p.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Grades 3rd-8th

Work on basketball skills and have the chance to play and meet members of the Scecina Girls’ Basketball Team! This camp is enjoyable whether you enjoy competition or just fun with friends. Camp is run by the Scecina Girls’ Basketball Coaching staff and players. Join us for a week of basketball fun!

Campers should wear gym clothes and shoes.

 


Cheer

  • Scecina Head Cheer Coach Jana Montgomery
  • 4 p.m. – 6 p.m.
  • Grades 1st-8th

 

Come and work on tumbling, stunting, proper techniques, and cheers at our coed cheer camp. We will work on individual skills from beginners to advanced. Our family performance at the end of camp will showcase what the campers have learned over the week. Go Junior Crusaders!

Campers need to bring athletic, bendable shoes, gym clothes, and a water bottle.

 


Football

  • Scecina Football Coach Coach Ott Hurrle and Coach Ben Dugan
  • 6 p.m. – 8 p.m.
  • Grades K-8th

 

Look no further than the Crusader Football Camp! This camp is the perfect opportunity for young football enthusiasts to learn from some of the most experienced coaches in the game. During this camp, kids will learn the fundamentals of football, including passing, catching, running, and blocking.

Campers should wear cleats or running shoes and bring a water bottle for this traditional Scecina Football camp.

Coed Volleyball

  • Scecina Head Volleyball Coach Tim Houser
  • 8 a.m. – 10 a.m. for grades 6th-8th
  • 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. for grades 1st-5th

Join Coach Tim Houser’s Volleyball Camp and learn from the best! Coach Houser has an impressive track record, having led the girls volleyball team to a regional championship. This is a unique opportunity to improve your skills and take your game to the next level. During this camp, players will learn volleyball skills (passing, serving, etc.), along with fun games and competitions at the end of the week!

Campers should wear gym clothes. Knee pads are recommended.

1st-5th Grade Registration

Filming Frenzy

  • Scecina Student Media Teacher Chad Tuley
  • 1 p.m. – 3 p.m.
  • Grades 5th-8th

Maybe you’re a YouTube creator. Perhaps you watch a lot of YouTube and other media. Maybe you’re bored and could use some fun with cameras. Learn some tips and tricks for using camera equipment to create fun shots and shoot cinematic scenes. All equipment is provided. Bring a fun, creative spirit!
