Students from Holy Spirit Catholic School, Our Lady of Lourdes, and Scecina Memorial High School came together for a day of music at the East Deanery Band Festival.

A special event highlight was a session on jazz music led by professional jazz trumpeter Kent Hickey. A well-known musician and educator in Indianapolis, Hickey shared his expertise and passion for jazz, even inviting student volunteers to join him for an interactive jam session.

The festival also featured guest euphonium player Garret Hartman, who led the brass section and played alongside the low brass during rehearsals. The presence of such talented professionals provided an invaluable experience for the students, enhancing their musical growth and appreciation.

This event was made possible through the efforts of Rachel and Andrew Howard from Holy Spirit Catholic School and Peter Felice of Our Lady of Lourdes and Scecina Memorial High School. Their dedication ensured a meaningful and enriching experience for all participants.

A heartfelt thank you to the parents and families who attended to support the students. Their encouragement and enthusiasm have a lasting impact on these young musicians.

We look forward to the next East Deanery Band Festival and another opportunity to celebrate the joy of music together.
