Scecina Honors 2024-25 Super Boosters and Larry Neidlinger “We Care” Award Recipients

During a special ceremony on February 15, 2025, the Scecina Memorial High School Athletic Department recognized several individuals for their outstanding contributions to the school’s athletic programs. The event, held at center court before the boys’ basketball game and during halftime, honored the 2024-25 Super Boosters and presented the prestigious Larry Neidlinger “We Care” Award. 

2024-25 Super Boosters

The Super Boosters program highlights individuals who have gone above and beyond in supporting Scecina’s athletic programs, contributing to the growth and success of Crusader athletics.

Stephanie Pfeifer

Since joining the school five years ago, Stephanie Pfeifer has been instrumental in developing the women’s basketball program at Scecina. She has served in multiple roles, including bench coach, scouting assistant, and statistician for the varsity and JV teams. Pfeifer has also overseen the Jr. Crusader Youth Basketball Program for the past four years, helping mentor young athletes in grades 4-8. She currently works at St. Mary’s Early Learning Center in Lawrence Township.

Drew White

Drew White, the father of 2020 Scecina graduate Max White, has supported the basketball program since his son’s first year. White has taken on various roles, including videographer, statistician, bus driver, and coaching assistant. He also contributed to Scecina’s capital campaign as a committee member, demonstrating his dedication to the school’s mission.

Matthew Schroeder

Matthew Schroeder, a math teacher at Scecina since 2016, has been an invaluable athletic department member. In addition to coaching the boys’ and girls’ golf teams, Schroeder has scored football games and helped organize football tailgates. He currently leads the Math Department at Scecina, shaping students’ academic success on the Eastside.

Matt Black

Matt Black is a 2010 Scecina graduate who has made lasting contributions to the school’s athletic and spirit programs. Black played soccer at Scecina and later returned to coach the girls’ soccer team. He founded the Crusader Cup to encourage student attendance at sporting and school events. Black also serves as the faculty mentor for the student council and is deeply involved in senior retreats. He teaches science at Scecina, and his family remains actively engaged in the school community.

Larry Neidlinger “We Care Award

The Larry Neidlinger “We Care Award, named in honor of the longtime teacher, coach, administrator, and friend of the school, is presented annually to an individual who exemplifies the spirit of “going the extra mile in support of Scecina’s athletic program, much like Neidlinger himself.

This year, Jeff and Jennifer Lathrop were honored for their unwavering support of the Scecina community. Jeff, a 1996 Scecina graduate, was a multi-sport athlete and was present during the dedication of the school’s baseball field as Larry R. Neidlinger Field. He became a CPA at DOZ and a longtime Scecina sponsor. Jennifer, a former neonatal intensive care nurse, teaches birth and sibling classes at Community Hospital. As parents, the Lathrops are dedicated volunteers, contributing to organizing events, coordinating fundraisers, and supporting the school’s mission. Their involvement extends to the Board of Directors and various school initiatives. Married since 2001, they are the proud parents of Cierra ’24, Hilari ’26, and Isaac ’29.
