President Therber: An amazing journey for our school and our capital campaign
Dear Scecina Community,
For the past year, Scecina has been on an amazing journey.
At the school on Oct. 9, we marked the completion of the first grading period of the 2020 -21 academic year. I sincerely thank our students and parents for their prayers, partnership, and resiliency during the pandemic as we have given our very best efforts and then, in the words attributed to Father Thomas Scecina, dug a bit deeper to “give that little extra.”
Just over a year ago, on Sept. 26, 2019, we kicked off the public phase of the school’s first major capital campaign, “Our Faith, Our Journey, Our Time” with the goal of raising $6 million for six priorities:
- Academic Excellence Fund
- New athletic and activity fields on campus
- New modern and welcoming entrance
- New weight room in the school building for security purposes (completed)
- New chapel in the school
- Facilities Endowment Fund

We’ve been overwhelmed by the response and the participation from the Scecina Community. We’ve closed in on our goal and hope to go even further. On Sept. 23 this year, the campaign entered Operation Homestretch, the final 100 days, and the final push to get us as far over the top as possible!
Please click on the video above to watch two of our students talk about the new weight room and the Operation Homestretch virtual rally.
We hope you can join us for the rally on October 28. You’ll be able to tune in from home. The rally will last about 20 minutes, and we will dedicate the new weight room and make a special announcement about the capital campaign.
Again, it’s been an amazing journey. We still have some work to do to realize our capital campaign vision. Please join us as we do this together!
God bless!
