President’s Blog: Reflections on stewardship

Spread the love

Greetings!

Happy Easter Season to you and yours!

Evidence of the Holy Spirit abounds! One of Scecina’s core values is Stewardship – Receiving, cultivating, and sharing God’s gifts gratefully and generously.  The Holy Spirit inspires so many members of the Scecina Community to be excellent stewards.

For example, the story below of seniors Mason Beriault and Marcus Greathouse, with motivation from Dan Bruno, Class of 1977 and retired Colonel in the United States Army who served as a high-ranking administrator at West Point, is a great example of young men willing to share their God-given gifts for a cause greater than themselves.  God has blessed not only Mason and Marcus, but also all our students, with vast potential to impact our world in positive ways.

Recently, the Scecina band and advanced choir received Gold (the highest) and Silver (next highest) ratings in the Indiana State School Music Association competitions.  Congratulations to our music students and director, Mr. Chris Ritchie, on these outstanding achievements and stewardship through the arts.

You may already know about the upcoming inductions of alumni Ott Hurrle, Class of 1970, and Rick Carrico, Class of 1967, into the Indiana Football Hall of Fame.  Coach Hurrle and Coach Carrico have generously devoted their adult lives to teaching the values of teamwork, commitment, and sportsmanship.

I am thankful for the gifts and service of principal David Dellacca and for the upcoming service of Peg Dispenzieri as Scecina’s next principal.

Two weeks ago, demolition began on campus through the first phase of campus-wide outdoor construction of new athletic fields and a new front entrance. Club 53 attendees were able to get a glimpse of the results of the first week of demolition. Virtually all the green space on campus will receive a complete facelift this calendar year to better serve our current and future students. Thank you to everyone who has generously shared God’s blessings in your lives with grateful hearts. Your support will positively impact Scecina for years to come!

The month of May is upon us with Mothers Day, Commencements, and many reasons to celebrate. The gifts of the Spirit are among us – thank you for your stewardship and prayers for our students and school-wide community.

Sincerely,

Joe
