Bio:  I am blessed to serve as a member of the Guidance Department with a focus on online and hybrid learning.  I have more than 10 years of experience in Catholic school leadership at the elementary, secondary, and diocesan levels.  I have also ministered as an Adjunct Faculty Member at the University of Notre Dame and as a Catholic school consultant.  I am a native of Northwest Indiana and have two brothers and 14 nieces and nephews.  My parents still live in the house where I was blessed to grow up.  I played varsity football at the University of Chicago and I taught English in Madrid, Spain.  My favorite quotation from Scripture is:  “I came that they might have life, and have it more abundantly.” (John 10:10).

Education: Bachelor of Arts, Music Education, Saint Joseph’s College

Bio: I’m from South Bend and attended Saint Joseph’s College in Rensselaer. I’ve been a part of the staff for several state finalist marching bands and currently perform with the Indianapolis Symphonic Band as a clarinetist. With a strong focus on community learning experiences, I strive to make every student become the best that they can be both in and out of the classroom.

I grew up in Little Flower neighborhood and attended Little Flower grade school from 1965-1973. I then attended Scecina Memorial High School from 1973-1977 where I also played football for Ken Leffler and wrestled for Sandy Tilton and Mark Steinmetz and was a member of the National Honor Society. I then attended Purdue University from 1977-1981 and graduated with a degree in English Education. I also received a master’s degree from Butler University in Secondary English Education in 1987. I began my teaching and coaching career at Scecina Memorial High School from 1981-1984. I then taught and coached at Bishop Chatard High School from 1984-1988. I then taught and coached at Franklin Central High School from 1988-2016 and retired from public education in 2016. I have been back home at Scecina High School from 2016 to present. I married Julie Cangany (Scecina 1978) and we have two sons Eric (Scecina 2006, Purdue University 2010, and California Hastings Law School 2018) who currently practices law in San Francisco, and Kevin (Scecina 2009, Purdue University 2013 and Indiana University 2016), who works in Indianapolis as a paralegal.

I became the Facility Manager at Scecina in July of 2017, after a successful 20-year career in Operations and Facility Management.  I’m a 1976 grad of Scecina and could not be happier to be back “walking the halls”.  I’ve been married to my wife Lisa for 21 years and we have two daughters, ages 19 and 14.  We are members of Holy Name parish in Beech Grove.

Bio: My neighbor had cerebral palsy along with great humor and love for life. I learned at a young age that we need to appreciate each other’s strengths and weaknesses, ultimately learning from everyone we encounter.

I started my career in public relations at Miami Valley Hospital, Dayton, Ohio, having attended parochial grade and high schools. Marriage brought me to Indianapolis. Here, I have been a  preschool teacher, seamstress, and a high school special education teacher. Most importantly, God gave us a daughter and son who attended Our Lady of Lourdes and Scecina Memorial High School. These schools gave them a wonderful foundation for college. I was widowed while our son was at Scecina, which led me to Special Education at Warren Central High School and Scecina. Both children are married and blessed me with additional gifts of three grandsons and two granddaughters. Besides family, I enjoy baking, gardening, sewing, and swimming.

Bio: As the proud daughter of a father in the military, I moved around a great deal growing up. This helped me become a more adaptable person. What never changed was the support of my family and our involvement in the Church wherever we went. My family ended up in the Dayton, Ohio, area. Once I graduated from the University of Dayton, I joined the Magis program through Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska. This program, like Teach for America or Notre Dame’s ACE program, allowed me to live in a faith community with other teachers while I began my career teaching in Rapid City, South Dakota. I loved the beauty of South Dakota, increasing my knowledge of Native American culture, and the opportunity to explore my thespian side as the oral interpretation coach. I stayed there for six years. After a year as a substitute teacher in Dayton, I ended up in Indianapolis and at Scecina. I think Indianapolis is a great city, and I am grateful to be a part of the community of the Eastside. My hobbies include baking, cooking, reading, Zumba, watching movies, and scrapbooking.
